SKLZ Sport-Brella Umbrella Review.
"Great beach umbrella" 2009-12-28

We go to a beach where it can become quite windy, and this umbrella is perfect. Once the sides are staked down, it's a great wind block as well as sun shade. The only thing I would correct is that the pointed part of the pole (the pole is in two pieces) is stored inside the shaft and it's hard to see since it's all black. We were convinced that it was missing until we saw the small sticker on the shaft saying that the bottom part of the pole was tucked up inside. The same thing happened to friends of ours that bought the same umbrella. They might want to make a bigger sticker! Other than that, we love it!

I have used this at soccer games in rainy Seattle and every time I set it up, people come from all over the fields to ask me about it. I swear I could set up shop and sell them out of my car. One man said, "I have umbrella envy."
The side flaps keep me dry from the wind-blown rain we often get in the Fall around here. The stakes keep it from blowing away. And, the compact size of the carrying case makes it easy to lug from the car with my fold-up chair. I don't mind rainy soccer days anymore because I know I'm not going to have to sit in wet misery for an hour.

These are wonderful umbrellas, we use it for the beach, Little League games, etc.
I did just buy the same one, however, at Costco for $39.99 a few days ago!

My son plays Little League in the Pacific Northwest. This means a LOT of wet, windy & cold games. I am also the scorekeeper and it is a nightmare trying to keep the book dry.
I bought the sportbrella at the beginning of the season and it was one of my best purchases. I love the easy set up and the fact that two people can easily sit in it. The wind does want to carry it away but I was able to get around that by attaching the pole to my chair!
I also bought a big buddy heater and the sportbrella did a great job of trapping the heat. My pitch counter and I were two spoiled moms!
I never had a problem with it leaking. The only time we got a little wet was when the rain started going sideways and blew in at us.
By the middle of the season these babies were popping up all over!

We'd gotten the version without the windows last summer, which had a plastic stand and plastic screw handle to keep the umbrella up. Upon first use the plastic screw handle broke, which obviously meant that the umbrella wouldn't stay open.
BUT, although we returned that one, we decided to give it another shot this summer, since it was such a great idea and worked so well otherwise... we were *so happy* when we received it to find that the plastic had been replaced with metal!!! I don't know if this is only on the "deluxe" model with the windows, but this thing is fantastic and perfect now... really stays put even in the sand at a windy beach, and we love it!
The windows are nice too, because you can keep them closed, or zip them open for a breeze. BEST umbrella ever!
